Road Twist
Turn the tiles until every piece of road joins another and the whole map is one network, with no road left pointing at a wall.
The rules
- 1Turn a tile
Click or tap a tile to turn it a quarter turn clockwise. Right-click (or shift-click) turns it the other way.
- 2Join the roads
Two tiles connect only when both point at each other. A road pointing at a wall, or at a tile that does not point back, is a loose end.
- 3Watch it light up
Tiles joined to the network light up. The light spreads from the top-left corner as you connect more.
- 4Connect every house
A tile with a single road is somebody’s house. The puzzle is solved when the whole map is one network and no loose ends remain.
Controls
- Mouse / touch
- Tap to turn clockwise. Right-click or shift-click to turn anticlockwise.
- Keyboard
- Arrow keys move, Space or Enter turns clockwise, Shift+Space anticlockwise. Ctrl+Z undoes.
Tips
- Corners and edges are forced: a road can never point off the map, which usually fixes those tiles outright.
- Start from the lit region and work outwards — a tile touching the light has fewer valid angles.
- Crossroads never change, so ignore them; they are already right.
- A tile with three roads has only one wall, so find the neighbour it cannot reach.
There are no spare roads: the layout is a tree, so every single tile has to be part of the answer.
Every tile holds a piece of road, dropped in at a random angle. Turn them until the whole map joins into one network with no road left pointing at a wall. Tiles light up as they join, so you can watch the map come together from the corner outwards.
Common questions
How do you play Road Twist?
Every tile holds a piece of road dropped in at a random angle. Tap a tile to turn it a quarter turn, until all the roads join into one network with no loose end pointing at a wall.
Is Road Twist the same as a pipes or net puzzle?
Same family. The difference is that the layout is always a tree, so there are no spare or redundant roads: every tile is part of the answer and nothing can be left over.
Where should I start?
The edges and corners. A road can never point off the map, which usually fixes those tiles outright, and the lit region then spreads inwards from what you have already solved.
Do crossroad tiles need turning?
No. A tile with roads on all four sides looks identical at every angle, so it is already correct. Skip them and spend your turns on the tiles that can actually be wrong.
